Setting the scene 3 years since it’s opening in 2021…. the owners extended Greenhouse Coffee and Plants into an entirely new space and introduced more seating areas, as well as incorporating a disco themed bathroom. A new lineup of evening community events have been created to keep the atmosphere of the café alive and give the people Corvallis to do something extra on off days.
“We expanded into the new side of the shop last year June 2024”, said Hannah Underwood, a staff member at the café. By August 2024 they were fully done with renovations and the space was open to the public.
In 2021 this café was known for its greenery and nicknamed “Jungle House”, because there were so many plants near the counter and an experimental coffee setup – tapping cold brew and espresso.
“Since we opened, our menu has remained completely vegan and gluten-free” Bryon Daniels, the owner of the café said. “That’s been consistent from day one, even as so much else has changed”.

Their new designs are still similar to how it was described in our first article about them back in 2021. A place which is mesmerizing and creative and peaceful I believe because of the variety of the plants they have.
“The old bathroom that used to be in the middle of the café got moved to the left side near the plants,” Daniels explained. “And in the new section, we added a second bathroom- it’s got a disco ball chandelier, mirrored walls and a vanity mirror for selfies”.
There have been large amounts of inflation and rising coffee tariffs, since their debut in 2021, said Daniels.
“Coffee prices have gone up by about 25% in the last year”, Daniels said. “There have been tariffs that hit the industry pretty hard, but we have tried to keep our menu prices about the same instead of adjusting too much”.

Their consistency about keeping the prices affordable has not gone unnoticed by regulars. “I don’t think they have changed it at all since I’ve been coming here”, said Rosie, a local who attended the café’s recent writer’s night. “It’s always been around seven dollars or so”.
Seems like matcha is the showstopper drink for Greenhouse now. “So much matcha- we make matcha constantly”, Underwood said. “It’s probably our most-ordered drink, right alongside the Secret Garden latte”.
“The secret Garden is our house signature,” Daniels added. “It’s made with macadamia milk espresso, jasmine, lavender, and sea salt- people really love it”.
The local attendees at the writer’s night agreed. “Their secret garden latte is my favorite”, said Colleen, a regular. “ I love being surrounded by plants here – it just makes me happy”.
Since 2021, the café’s biggest development has been its new after-hours life. “We started hosting things like writer’s night, game nights, comedy shows and silent book club meetups,” said Underwood. “It’s been really nice seeing people stay later and enjoy the space beyond our regular hours”.
“There was a very clear need for it,” Daniels said. “So many people told me there’s nothing to do in Corvallis at night except go to bars. We wanted to fill that gap and create things we’d want to go ourselves- movie nights, game nights, that kind of thing”
The events have brought a diverse crowd, from students to older locals, who gather for book club, coffee, and conversation.
“It’s such a wide variety,” said Underwood. “We get tons of students studying, but also older groups who come in for weekly meetups. It’s a mix of everyone – all ages, all types.”
“It’s so nice to have something like this to do in Corvallis”, Colleen said, “It feels wholesome – everyone’s just here to write, chat and be part of something creative”.
“I hope Greenhouse keeps growing the way it has,” Daniels said, “its seen so much positive change this past year, and I want it to become a real focal point for downtown- a place where people know they can always find something fun to do”.
