On Monday at 7 p.m. in Detrick Hall, Holocaust survivor and renowned peace advocate Irene Butter will share her powerful story of survival and hope. A lifelong educator and co-founder of several peace organizations, Butter has dedicated decades to sharing her experiences.
Born in Berlin in 1930, Butter lived through the rise of Nazism and was eventually deported to multiple concentration camps, including Bergen-Belsen — where she briefly crossed paths with Anne Frank.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with PRAxPRELUDE in the Toomey Lobby and features some remarks by historian Katherine Hubler, editor of “Listening to Survivors: Four Decades of Holocaust Memorial Week at Oregon State University.”
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and any reservations can be made through the PRAx website.
