The Oregon State University Program Council invites OSU students to its annual Dam Jam on May 30 in the Student Experience Center Plaza from 5 to 9 p.m.
Last Wednesday, Dam Jam revealed their headliner for this year: Dayglow.
The opening lineup for Dayglow includes artists: Not Your Ex-Lover, Airplane Baby and DJ Leo, a KBVR-FM DJ.
“We’re really excited to invite the students this year. With the cancellation last year, it’s really important that we have a really, really good environment and we just want to make it so fun for everyone,” said Sarah Kaufman, OSU’s Program Council lead.
Dam Jam is OSU Program Council’s concluding concert for OSU students, marking the transition into summer while also celebrating the year’s achievements and graduating seniors with live music.
The Texas-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist headliner, Dayglow, is known for his guitar-based indie pop. Songs like “Can I Call You Tonight” and “Hot Rod” are his most popular, according to Spotify charts.
“If you look at his music videos or those little clips that you get on Spotify for songs, they’re all very hazy and nostalgic and really remind us of like late ‘90s/early 2000s, so we really went for that vibe,” Kaufman said.
Dam Jam is collaborating with KBVR and Locals Live, celebrating KBVR FM’s 60th anniversary. The event will be broadcasted on KBVR’s channels.
In addition to Dam Jam, the OSU Program Council will be hosting a picnic on the Memorial Union Quad starting at 2:30 p.m. on May 30. Yard games, Otter Pops and food trucks will be lined up on the Brick Mall, the brick street that goes along the Strand Agricultural Center.
The first 50 people in attendance of the event will get “freebie” concert gear, including earplugs and glowsticks, as well as posters signed by Dayglow. Those who arrive within the first 45 minutes will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes.
There will be a hydration station located in the corner of the SEC closest to the Strand Agricultural Center for students to fill their water bottles.
For those who may have sensory issues or need physical accessibility, the OSU Program Council has booked the balcony on the second floor of the SEC to view the stage.
