What’s New with OSUsed?

Kate Brown

OSUsed is a surplus store located on campus on SW 13th Street, in the Property Services Building. According to their page on the Oregon State University website, they sell all sorts of merchandise, including but not limited to, “computers and computer accessories, furniture (desks, file cabinets, tables, chairs, bookcases, etc.), office supplies, sporting goods, household items, bicycles, and much more.”

“The goals of the OSUsed Store and the department of Surplus Property are to reuse materials, make available state foods to the public for purchase, and to return funds to OSU departments and public agencies. The store serves as a place to encourage reuse at OSU and in the greater community,” Manager of OSU Materials Management, Rae DeLay.

This summer, they are having weekly public afternoon sales on Tuesday’s from 5:30-7:30 P.M. and on Friday’s from 12-3 P.M. This is the only time that the store is open to the general public, but they also state on their webpage that “staff may shop for their department, government agency, or nonprofit on Mondays through Thursdays at 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.”

On their webpage you can sign up for an emailing list for more information and dates that they are open to the general public. Additionally, they post photos of merchandise for sale on their Facebook page “Surplus Property- Oregon State University.”
