Mary’s Peak Closure

Been up to Mary’s Peak lately? Neither has anyone else. In September, Mary’s Peak day use area was closed due to meadow restoration. This is great news overall because the meadow needs this, but if you spent time and gas on a drive up to the peak, it was a bummer to find a favorite spot closed down. Additionally, many trees were cut down in order to save the area long term.

The closure itself was put in place for the safety of visitors, to help them avoid logging equipment and other unforeseen accidents that can occur during construction. Fortunately for the adventurers of Corvallis, it looks like Mary’s Peak will be reopening after November. Hopefully, this project will have helped Mary’s in the long run so that Oregon State students can continue enjoying the outdoors that are so close to home. Get your warm jackets and boots back out, winter adventures are just around the corner and Mary’s should not be taken off of winter break bucket list.
