Homecoming Week boasts events to celebrate 150 years of OSU

Homecoming Week invites Oregon State University (OSU) alumni to come back to campus, celebrate the new exciting changes we’ve experienced and reminisce about their alma mater. The OSU Alumni Association has planned a week full of events to honor our school and celebrate our 150 years.

Oct. 15 to 20: Spirit Week

Grab your closest eight to nine friends and get ready to compete in a week full of events to show off your OSU spirit! Participate in each event to earn points in order to become the 2018 Homecoming Spirit Week Champions! Spirit Week kicks off with a book talk in the MU Ballroom on Monday, Oct. 15 at 6:00 p.m. The following events will also be taking place during Spirit Week:

Monday, Oct. 15

  • Beaver Feud: 8:00 to 10 p.m., MU Horizon Room

Tuesday, Oct. 16

  • Minute to Win It Challenge #1 (Soda Balance): 12:30 p.m., SEC Plaza

  • Minute to Win It Challenge #2 (Sock Race Relay): 4:30 p.m., MU Quad

Wednesday, Oct. 17

  • Benny’s Birthday and Student Experience Center Open House, 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., SEC

Thursday, Oct. 18

  • Minute to Win It Challenge #3 (Oreo Challenge): 12:30 p.m., SEC Plaza

  • Minute to Win It Challenge #4 (Egg Race Relay): 4:30 p.m., MU Quad

  • Land of Plenty Community Dialogue: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., MU Horizon Room

Friday, Oct. 19

  • Name That Song: 12:30 p.m., SEC Plaza

  • Amazing Race & Rally: 7:00 p.m., MU Quad

  • Bowling: 10:30 p.m., MU Basement

Saturday, Oct. 20

  • Tug-of-War: Halftime of the football game, Reser Stadium

    • At this event, the winners of Spirit Week will be announced!

Oct. 18: Fall Awards Celebration, LaSells Stewart Center, 6:00 p.m.  

The OSU Alumni Association is hosting a cocktail social at 6:00 p.m., which is followed by a dinner and an awards ceremony. You will hear Alumni Fellows share their experiences and expertise about the university. Ticket prices vary. This event registration has already ended, but if you’re interested, contact the Alumni Association to see if you can still get a ticket.

Oct. 19: Dick Fosbury Statue Unveiling, Dixon Recreation Center, 4:00 p.m.

Visit the statue unveiling created to honor the olympic track star and innovator of the Fosbury Flop, Dick Fosbury! Come be one the first to see the new statue honoring this moment in history.

Oct. 19: Homecoming Rally, SEC Plaza, 8:00 p.m.

Celebrate the end of The Amazing Race challenge and sing your heart out in a lip-sync battle, located at the SEC Plaza from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Continue the fun afterwards with bowling in the MU Basement at 10:30 p.m.

Oct. 20: ASOSU-Beaver Caucus Homecoming Brunch, MU Lounge, 10:00 a.m. 

Join Associated Student of Oregon State University and the Beaver Caucus for brunch and listen to how students and alumni can affect the future of OSU.

Oct. 20: Beaver Battalion Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Foxtail and Fantail Alumni Muste, NROTC Armory, time to be determined.

Come visit with old friends and classmates with those in OSU NROTC program.

Oct. 20: Homecoming Tailgate with Beaver Nation, CH2M HILL Alumni Center, time to be determined

Relive the memories of football game tailgating before the homecoming game! Everyone is welcome! Ballroom entry is free for all OSU Alumni Association members.

Oct.  20: 6th Annual College of Forestry Homecoming Tailgate Celebration, Crop Sciences Building, time to be determined

Join The College of Forestry for food, wine, beer, and conversation before the homecoming game. By attending this event, you can also find free parking at the Crop Sciences Building and ride over to the game in the shuttle!

Homecoming week is a tradition as old as time, and with it being the celebration of 150 years of OSU, there are so many events for students, faculty, alumni, and the OSU community to get involved in.
