DIY Valentine’s Cards

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and this holiday is one of the best ones to give homemade, heartfelt gifts! Let your special someone know how much you care about them with a DIY card this year! Below are three options to either copy or to inspire your creativity!

Materials:

  • Decorative or Construction Paper

  • Cardstock

  • Scissors

  • Glue Stick

Love Card

Instructions:

  1. Choose all of the paper you want to use for this card.

  2. Cut the paper for the card base to the size you want and fold the paper in half.

  3. Make a small heart

    • Choose a decorative paper

    • Fold in half

    • On the crease side, draw half of a heart

    • Cut the heart from the paper

    • Take the small heart and unfold it. Now you have the piece for your heart balloon!

  4. Take the same decorative paper used for the heart and cut a slightly smaller rectangle than one side on your base.

  5. Paste the heart on the front of the card on the right side, slightly above the middle of the card.

  6. Paste the rectangle of decorative paper on the left inside cover of the card.

  7. On the front, write the word love in order to connect from the bottom of the card up to the point of the heart.

  8. On the right inside cover of the card, write a special message to your loved one!

Heart Balloons Card

Instructions:

  1. Cut a medium-sized square from the cardstock.

  2. Cut a slightly smaller square from plain construction paper.

  3. Paste the slightly smaller square in the center of the cardstock square.

  4. Cut three or four small hearts from decorative paper (follow instructions from the Love Card).

  5. Paste the hearts staggering in a clump in the upper middle right-hand side of the square.

  6. Draw lines coming down from the hearts to make them look like balloons.

  7. Write a special message to your loved one on the left side of the card!  

Heart Card

Instructions:

  1. Cut a large heart from one piece of construction paper (follow instructions from the Love Card).

  2. Cut a slightly smaller heart from another different colored piece of construction paper.

  3. Paste the smaller heart in the center of the larger heart.

  4. Cut a small heart from decorative paper (follow instructions from the Love Card).

  5. Paste the small heart on the upper left-hand side of the heart connection line.

  6. Write a special message to your loved one in the center of the card!
