Back in the month of March, Edward Feser, Provost and Executive Vice President, welcomed David Biespiel as Oregon State University’s first Poet-in-Residence. In the announcement, Feser describes Biespiel as “a major voice in 21st century American writing.” Biespiel will now be writing poems for the university and serving as an asset that the university and its organizations can use.

David Biespiel has written many books of poetry and prose, most recently receiving acclaim for The Education of a Young Poet. We chose to highlight an excerpt from his poem “A Theory of Hats”.
