Oregon is not known to be the warmest place, but at this time of the year, it is starting to heat up.
The rain and umbrellas are being replaced with sun and sunbathing in the heat.
So, how can we get out and enjoy the weather in Corvallis?
- Beach Volleyball
Get together a group of friends, head to Dixon to rent a volleyball, and head to the beach volleyball courts between Dixon and the parking garage. Pull out your speaker and soak up some sun while getting in a fun game of beach volleyball!
- Dining Hall Picnic
A great picnic meal can be found on campus, combining a fresh smoothie and burger from McNary Dining or a panini with a side of grapes from West Dining. Whatever meal you choose, there is plenty of space to set up your picnic in the MU Quad.
- Chill in a Hammock
There are plenty of posts set up around campus to hang your personal hammock or take a trip behind PRAx to use a public hammock that is already set up.
- Swimming at Alsea Falls Recreation Area
Not only is there a swimming area and space to sunbathe, but there is a 30-foot waterfall too.
- Hike to Mary’s Peak
Nothing beats the 360 view atop Mary’s Peak. Taking a beautiful day hike ending with a rewarding view is a great way to spend a warm day.
- Corvallis’ Saturday Farmers Market
Taking a nice stroll along the water of the Willamette while looking at fruits, bread, and jams to homemade jewelry, flowers, and crocheted stuffed animals can be the perfect way to spend a warm day. The market takes place every Saturday along 1st Street from 9 am- 1 pm.
- Take a Bike Ride
No “rushing to class” bike ride, but a bike ride where you enjoy the sun, air, and the world around you. OSU is one of the best campuses for biking, with the whole town being bike-friendly too!
