At one point or another college students had to make a hard decision on which college to attend.
So why did current Beavers choose Oregon State University to continue their higher education?
Whether it was because of the campus, the town, or the community, OSU students share why they decided to come to Corvallis and be a part of Beaver Nation.

He specifically mentions that he’s found advising and office hours to be helpful.
He says he would recommend OSU to others. He likes the nature on campus and says that OSU is “good for environmental sciences.”
As for advice he’d give to incoming freshmen, Richards says, “Be open to meeting people, most people are open to it and want to make friends too.”

She is a senior majoring in fisheries, wildlife and conservation sciences. She said she’s interested in “the sciences and outdoors, working to conserve natural resources as well as coming up with solutions and sustainable change.”
She says she is pleased with her experience overall and the curriculum has been great. Moran says she “definitely would” recommend OSU to people.
Her advice for incoming freshmen would be to stay excited because there is so much to offer here.
She says, “Take a step back to find out what you are passionate about so you can pursue your interests and find people to make connections with.”

She says, “They have a vet school here, which I really liked, I was able to get my feet wet.”
Peterson says that the community here is good and how there are great outlets with welcoming people. She advises freshmen to get out of their comfort zone. She says, “Try different clubs, you never know what hobbies you’ll acquire.”

Cesar Sandoval – second year mechanical engineering major
Cesar Sandoval is a second year mechanical engineering major who chose OSU since it was close to home. He uses the slogan, “I’m born and bred [here].”
He also liked how good the engineering program here was and that he got a good amount of financial aid.
He says, “I recommend it for sure, it’s a good raddled school with engineering and we also have some liberal arts programs here, too.”
Sandoval does, however, advise freshmen to “be aware of the dorm showers, that was probably the worst part.”

Ian Bak – second year ecological engineering major

“I like the nature and I have some friends that go here,” he adds.
He says he would absolutely recommend OSU to others, saying, “It’s super easy to walk and bike around.”
He also mentions that the clubs are also fun, he says he’s a part of “Aquapontics club, the DanceSport Competition Ballroom club, and the Country Western Line Dancing club.”

Natalie Snowden is a senior majoring in Public Health. She was going around with one of her friends, who is not an OSU student, rating the benches around campus.
She did not comment on the current bench she was sitting on, but she did say that “the campus is pretty and I love when the trees and flowers are all in bloom.”
She also said that the campus itself can have a small or big campus feel depending on what you want it to be, like when you go to a sporting event.
Snowden would recommend OSU to others. She said, “It’s a nice campus and the professors are great and all the students I’ve met are just wonderful.”
“Def gotta make friends” is her advice to incoming freshmen. She also said, “Go out of your way to go out, don’t hold up in your dorm,” even if that means just sitting in the Memorial Union Quad and watching people walk by.

Andrew Tercek – third year biology and genetics major
Third year biology and genetics major Andrew Tercek says he chose OSU since it was close to home and where he grew up. He also says that the school has good programs and resources.
He says he would recommend OSU to others and that he has had a “good personal experience here and I’ve enjoyed the classes and campus. Corvallis is a nice area.”
Something he would advise incoming freshmen to do is “take community college courses if you can.” Tercek says that he is going into his last year with no debt because of it.
He did his classes at Mount Hood Community College and is a part of the Degree Partnership Program, DPP, which allows students to have dual enrollment with OSU and community colleges within Oregon and Hawai’i.
