The Craft Center in the basement of the Student Experience Center opened its doors in 2015 but it’s been a part of OSU culture since 1966, some of the well loved crafts back then are present today
Maddy Corbin the Program Coordinator of The Craft Center here at OSU when asked on the trending popularity of this terms Craft Center usage says They’ve seen a lot of ceramics, glass torching and sewing but the entire center has been well loved.
Corbin also spoke on ideas for upcoming holiday gifts. Recommending things like cards or painted gifts for non-orientation crafts or more advanced crafts like glass work for light catchers, sewing for kitchen pieces, and even wood shop for charcuterie boards.
Regardless of what you’re doing, Corbin encourages you to stop by before finals week, earlier for longer projects.
Located on the bottom floor of the Student Experience Center on OSU campus, the den provides a calming environment. Tucked away from campus busyness.
There’s staff floating around during certain times of the day ready to support you and your artistic journey, not to mention fellow students joining you in the pursuit. Who knows, you might meet a crafting buddy down there.
“Its a very welcoming space with a lot of other makers who pop up there,” Corbin says about the free roam “Paper Plaza” center where students can grab simple materials and let their creativity flow.
While the workshops for this term are all filled up, Winter Terms registration for workshops start the first day of classes at 12:30 p.m.
