There’s one thing we all remember more clearly than our test scores following this Fall semester: the song we couldn’t stop playing.
Music is what motivates people to do extraordinary things, such as acing an exam or running 10 miles. We wanted to know what students’ “Song of the term” this fall was and why.

Charles Hrijot Metheny is a first-year student here at Oregon State University studying Environmental Science.
When asked about his song of the term, Metheny replied, “I think it would be this song: Find me somebody to love.”

Maddy Howard says, “I guess my favorite song right now is, like, Saturn by SZA.” (0:24) She mentions, “Yeah, that was my favorite right now.”

Xander Hobart is a fourth-year student who studies economics and supply chain logistics management at Oregon State University.
Hobart says his song of the term is “Come Apart by Phaser days.”

Samantha Clavijo, a second-year psychology student, said that her song of the term is “Love Grows” by Edison Lighthouse.
“This year, I’ve just made a lot more friends and definitely gotten closer, especially people in my sorority, too,” Clavijo explains.

Charlotte Nesseler-Cass is a first-year student studying electrical and computer engineering. When asked about her “Song of the term,” she replied, “Dreams by Rory Orbison.”
“His music is very, like, dreamlike and maybe not all there, so maybe that represents my term,” Nesseler-Cass explains.

Rook Smith is a first-year student studying fire restoration forestry.
Rook Smith says his “Song of the Term” is “Maps and Legends by R.E.M. It’s very like, fall feeling because I love the campus during fall,” Smith explains.
