Still coughing? Us too.
Nothing is worse than waking up sick and realizing you don’t know where to get comfort food on campus. To take the weight off the desperate search, the list below details what and where such foods can be purchased.
It’s more likely than not that you’ve been sick at some point through college, and when you’re living on campus, it can be difficult to find comforting nourishing foods that feel good for your mind and your body.
There are some key foods that support the immune system more than others while fighting off colds and stomach bugs. Some of those foods include bananas, apples, rice, toast, oats, and other easily digestible foods all fall under the BRAT diet, recommended by The Oregon Clinic when dealing with an upset stomach.
Staying hydrated is just as important, either through water, tea or broth reports The Oregon Clinic. Fermented food like kimchi, sauerkraut, miso and yogurt are great for probiotic support and helps prevent or shorten cold duration, reports Samaritan Health Services.
Foods like avocado and honey help reduce inflammation while leafy greens are full of antioxidants, all helpful in supporting your immune system, reports GoodRx. Finally, protein through any outlet is helpful in supporting your immune system in fighting a cold, reports The Mayo Clinic Health System.
Besides immune system support, sometimes you just need a warm meal when you’re feeling under the weather. All items below are available on campus, can be purchased with either credit card or dining plan, and most are available through Starship Food Delivery.
